Puri Pura is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, next to the local temple, in the heart of Banjar Canggu. However Canggu has become the collective name for a number of villages on Bali’s west coast which could previously be described as a sleepy coastal locale, but has rapidly developed into one of the islands most sort after residential areas, with a vibrant local community.

The popular Echo beach, just a short walk, is a great spot for surfing, sunset drinks or dinner at one of the restaurants overlooking the beach. Canggu Beach (Batu Bolong Beach) is also within walking distance and boasts excellent surfing and an array of beach clubs, bars and restaurants. Two minutes drive away is an Olympic sized public swimming pool with a kids pool and slide. Finns Club (5 minutes drive) has excellent facilities to play tennis, a well-equipped gym, water slides and bowling.

You can enjoy both western and Indonesian cuisine not only at Echo Beach but at an array of eclectic cafes and restaurants in the local area. There are too many to document, however popular restaurants and bars within walking distance to the villa include Old Mans, The Beach House, Deus Ex Machina, Sand Bar, The Common, La Calita, La Bandita, Shady Shack, Gypsy, La Baracca, Crate & Betelnut cafe. The nearby Tugu hotel offers superb fine dining in a variety of unique settings from private banquet rooms to intimate settings on walkways above a large lotus pond and the best fine dining Japanese restaurant in Bali – Ji. There is a vibrant live music scene with regular gigs at Deus and Old mans. Canggu is evolving quickly with new cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques opening regularly.

The Kuda P stables in Pererenan, and the Umalas stables can arrange horse rides on the beach. Along the coast to the north of Canggu is the Nirwana Bali Golf Club which was designed by Greg Norman and is frequently voted the number one golf course in Asia. Next to this is Pura Tanah Lot; a sea temple perched high on a craggy wave-lashed rock and probably the most photographed sight in Bali.
